MUHSEN - Muslims Understanding & Helping Special Education Needs

Founded by Sheikh Omar Suleiman, MUSHEN has set out to make a difference in muslim communities and their mosques relating to a sensitive topic that deserves awareness. As many states have already implemented requirements for handicap accessibility, there are other considerations that come into play within the specifics of a person with special-needs attending a mosque. We understand that difficulties come with disabilities, but MUHSEN is dedicated to understanding the perspective of families that experience life’s challenges with a special-needs family member. Together, with MUHSEN, DCC is committed it creating a welcoming and catering environment for these families.

DCC is on track to attaining its MUHSEN Certification. We ask families to communicate with MUHSEN on what specifications and amenities are needed to facilitate to a better center visit. MUHSEN has a provided a Needs Assessment Survey where you can share more details. Feel free to share the link with any families and spread awareness. Any and all surveys are confidential and will only be provided to the MUHSEN team.
